Job Description
Northfleet is a growing concrete forming and flatwork contractor delivering complex industrial, commercial, and institutional projects across Ontario. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team and play a critical role in our preconstruction process. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on accuracy, understands tender documents inside and out, and enjoys collaborating with suppliers and subcontractors to build competitive, well-scoped bids.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in all estimation and project coordination as directed by Tiffany Ongtenco or direct manager
- Review bid opportunities with the Estimating Team
- Review project documents and submission requirements for upcoming tenders.
- Prepare project quantities and take offs using Planswift.
- Collaborate with Department Leads to review project requirements and quantities.
- Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors regarding project requirements, scheduling, and pricing negotiations.
- Communicate with clients through email and phone regarding project requirements including submitting RFIs, tender documents etc.
- Communicate and collaborate with other departments.
- Prepare comprehensive scopes of work and bid documents/forms.
- Provide support to the Operations Team where required. This includes providing quantities, project specification or details as requested.
- Share in overall office duties.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field required
- Formal coursework in construction estimating, cost control, or construction project management considered an asset
- Proven experience in estimating or a similar role within the construction industry.
Experience/Skills:
- Minimum 2–4 years of direct experience in construction estimating or a closely related role within the construction sector.
- Demonstrated experience preparing tender submissions, from initial take-offs through final bid documentation
- Demonstrated proficiency in preparing project quantities and take-offs using Planswift
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail with demonstrated ability to interpret technical documents accurately.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent tenders and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to read & interpret construction drawings
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to prepare detailed scopes of work, bid forms, and supporting documentation with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and submitting RFIs, tender correspondence, and clarification requests in accordance with client and consultant requirements.
- Experience coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors regarding pricing, availability, and project timelines
- Experience collaborating with internal departments and supporting operations
